Play A Coke app campaign returns in summer 2017 for Canadians

 with the Play A Coke App

TORONTO—Coca-Cola Canada’s popular and award-winning “Play a Coke” program is back for an encore performance, giving Canadians a soundtrack to go with ice-cold refreshment all summer long.

More than 150 exciting new Spotify playlists will add music to Coca-Cola drinkers’ summer moments, found across all Coca-Cola brands and, new for 2017, with Sprite included with its own unique playlists.

Play a Coke,” which launched exclusively in Canada in 2016, swaps the logos on Coca-Cola bottles for a total of 189 shareable summer moments, including playlists in English and French.

Music lovers can quench their thirst and enjoy their favorite summer playlists on 500mL bottles of Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Life and Sprite as well as fountain cups sold in Canada.

And for a limited time, Coca-Cola is bringing back the two flavors most requested by Canadians: Coca-Cola Vanilla and Coca-Cola Cherry.

It’s a fantastic way for Canadians to enjoy ice cold refreshment and share their personal favorite soundtracks to summer.”

Through “Play a Coke,” people can access Spotify playlists specially curated to evoke the fun and laid-back beat of summer, from hanging out with friends at the lake to outdoor barbecues and even heating up a summer romance. With the new 2017 lineup of playlists including “Dock Life”, “BBQ Time”, “Wristband Ready”, “Nothing But Net”, and “Allô l’été“, there is something for everyone.

There are also new playlists celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday.

The “Play a Coke” app was developed in Canada specifically for the Canadian market. With it, fans are able to digitally interact with their bottle of Coca-Cola or Sprite. To activate a playlist, download the Play a Coke app, point your smartphone at a specially marked bottle or fountain cup and press play.

Once a playlist is unlocked, users can play, pause and control song selection through Coca-Cola’s app augmented reality feature by twisting the bottle back and forth.

You can save the playlist to your own Spotify account and listen to it all summer long. More than 30 million “Play a Coke” bottles will be available in Canada during the program.

Support for this year’s “Play a Coke” program is significantly increased from 2016 and includes social media engagement, TV, cinema and out of home advertising, along with in-store engagement.
