The expansion makes PIGEON the first truly-pan North American independently owned branding and design firm

Canada’s leading brand design agency is expanding its reach into Latin America. Thomas Pigeon, Founder and CEO of Pigeon Brands, today announced the opening of the firm’s Latin American Head Office in Mexico City. The expansion makes PIGEON the first truly-pan North American independently owned branding and design firm.

“We see Mexico and Latin America as dynamic growth areas for our firm. Our business has grown rapidly over the last few years, and part of that growth is attributed to global brands enlisting our services to help enhance their branding in Mexico, Central and South America. Additionally, we have been privileged to work with global CPG leaders such as Grupo Bimbo in that market, as well as other international markets,” says Pigeon.

Alfonso Argudin Alvarez, Vice President of Global Marketing for Grupo Bimbo notes: “Thomas and his team have been key design partners of Grupo Bimbo, working on local initiatives in Mexico and South America and supporting us in Canada on the Dempster’s brand, as well as several other global initiatives. The opening of PIGEON’s Mexico office is a welcome initiative that will bring them closer to many of our major markets.”

The Mexico City office will operate in conjunction with PIGEON’s Montreal and Toronto offices, offering existing clients increased proximity, improved service levels and a cultural connection to Latin American markets. This location will continue to leverage strategic insights, creative capabilities and brand expertise from the creative teams in our Canadian offices.

Mexico City-born Isra Calderon, with his 15 years of branding and design experience, is PIGEON’s key point of contact in the new office. Most recently, he was the creative head for a leading network branding agency in Latin America. A multiple award-winner for his work, Isra has also made positive contributions to many Mexican and Latin American brands part of the brand portfolios of global companies such as Grupo Bimbo, Nestle and Unilever.

“It’s exciting for us to be part of the Mexican and Latin American landscape,” says Pigeon. “Currently, we are working on assignments in Mexico as well as Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. These are exciting new markets for us and an exciting time to be part of this rapidly emerging economy.”
