Sprite adds two flavors to Canadian aisles

Back by popular demand, Cranberry Sprite joins new flavor Cherry Sprite on Canadian shelves through end of 2017.

The Sprite brand is offering two refreshing flavors to Canadian consumers through to the end of 2017—or while supplies last—according to Coca-Cola Canada.

Sprite Cranberry is back by popular demand offering Sprite fans a burst of delicious cranberry flavor just in time for the cool, crisp Fall weather. Cranberry is a favorite over the holidays, and is the fastest growing carbonated beverage flavor in Canada, increasing 34 percent over prior year—according to Nielsen Market Track rolling data over 52 week period ending July 29, 2017.

New this autumn is Sprite Cherry offered to Canadians for the first time—Sprite with a splash of cherry.

Sprite decided to combine the tastes of lemon-lime and cherry after analyzing data from Coca-Cola Freestyle, Coca-Cola’s self-serve machine that offers more than 100 beverage choices.
Cherry in is the No. 1 “added flavor” in Canada for sparkling soft drink beverages served on Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. At the same time, lemon-lime is the No. 2 carbonated soft drink (behind the colas) in Canada with teens and millennials—according to Ipsos FIVE Data for a rolling 12 month period ending September 2016.

Together, Coca-Cola found that Sprite with cherry is a winning combination among young Canadians.

“We always listen carefully to what Canadians are saying they want, and they have been consistently telling us loud and clear they love cranberry and cherry,” says Coca-Cola Ltd. senior brand manager Melanie Isaac. “I’m excited that we’re offering Canadians more of the great lemon-lime Sprite taste they love with a twist of something new and delicious for the fall season: cranberry and cherry.”

Sprite Cherry and Sprite Cranberry are available in 500mL bottles and 2L bottles, while supplies last. Sprite Cranberry is also offered in 355mL can 12 packs.

Both new options are clear, caffeine-free and made with 100 percent natural flavors. delivering fresh options with their lemon-lime carbonated soft drink.

Sprite and its new Cherry and Cranberry flavors will be promoted with an integrated marketing campaign (IMC) featuring basketball star LeBron James. The IMC features TV commercials with LeBron to keep the brand top of mind along with out of home advertising, paid search, mobile and social media/online content.
