As one of the world’s most beloved and ancient breakfast staples, pancakes are in a class of their own when it comes to recipe and ingredient versatility.
So it was always just a matter of time before someone came along to develop a plant-based, protein-rich pancake mix to take this breakfast favorite to the next level of healthy nutrition and enjoyment.
Founded three years ago by local food entrepreneur Andrew Maida, Toronto-based Flourish Pancakes has enjoyed extraordinary growth in demand and popularity of its signature whey-based, protein-rich pancake mixes—also available in plant-based and gluten-free varieties.
To mark its stunning success, the company has recently launched a limited-edition Flourish Birthday Cake pancake mix—dishing out a healthy take on the traditional birthday treat with high protein and fiber content and boasting natural sprinkles made with organic spirulina.
Sold exclusively through the company’s online shop and containing no artificial flavors or colors, the low-sugar mix is made with just four healthy ingredients to provide 11 grams of plant-powered protein in an easy-to-make, just-add-water recipe.
According to Flourish, the product is free from the top eight common allergens, including gluten, eggs, dairy, and tree nuts.
Packed in resealable 430-gram stand-up pouches designed by District Ventures Plus, the new Birthday Mix is available in Original and Chocolate Chip flavors, both boasting on-pack NonGMO Project and Certified Vegan certifications.
“The Flourish packaging is designed with customers in mind,” says Maida.
“It’s easy to use and it showcases important nutritional information about the product while still having a bright and fun look,” says Maida, citing one-year product shelf-life enabled by the high-barrier pouch construction.
“The packaging enables us to maintain a consistent look, while being able to change the design graphics to match the flavor of the product inside,” Maia says.
“That way it’s easy to know which flavour you’re picking up, while maintaining a consistent brand image.”
