VIDEO: “This machine gives the portion control retailers and food service demand,” says meat-packer owner

"As the seasoned steak ages in its marinade in the vacuum pack, its quality improves."

In this video, listen to Terry Tountas, General Manager at Salaison Alpha Meat Packers, talk about the value-add offered by the MULTIVAC R126 thermoforming packaging machine and the R 275 Multi-Fresh skin-packaging machine recently installed. “Our customers are demanding value-add, case-ready packaging. We’ve become packaging specialists, and our partner is MULTIVAC.

“The machine that impresses me the most,” says Tountas, “is the R126, with its flexibility and speed. The longer the marinated meat stays in the vacuum-sealed pack, the more its quality improves!”

Eric Boivin, Maintenance Manager at Alpha, takes us into the plant to watch each machine package and label product, so that it is “ready to go in the box.

“The R126 was up and running in just over a week. We didn’t miss a beat. Production increased from 24 packs a minute to 40 packs a minute. The HMI is intuitive and easy to use and stores up to 500 recipes.” Eric also demonstrates the R275 MF skin-pack machine that delivers a complete seal around bone-in pork chops for outstanding shelf appeal and “long best-before dates.” Both machines are demonstrated with MULTIVAC add-on top and bottom labeling with thermo printing for traceability.

Sales & Marketing Director Peter Koukos concludes: “Before consumers buy the steak, they buy the sizzle on the retail shelf… and boy, do these packs sizzle!”
