“We lost a conveyor bolt in a production run and didn’t know what to do!”

So exclaims Surria Fadel, co-founder and partner of Cedar Valley Selections, during the video shoot at her site.

She then details how Cedar Valley reached out to Plan Automation to put their X-Ray Rework & Reclaim Service to the test.

Surria continues: “Twelve skids of product were suddenly put on hold and at risk of being destroyed.” Then JP and Mat at Plan Automation took over. “They were calming, thorough [and] professional and documented everything. That’s the key… to have a report for traceability recording.”

We then move in the video to the Plan Automation X-Ray Reclaim 15,000-square-foot facility in Bolton to be treated to a viewing of the whole operation – from shipping and receipt of product on skids, inspection by individual product or by the case, and then on to documentation and reporting.

JP Perreault of Plan reveals, “Most food processors don’t know how low-cost this service is. The ones who do make it a major part of their food-safety programs.”

Mat Bedard takes us through the whole process of testing, detecting and reporting for the highest “Probability of Detection”. He also demonstrates the sequential use of two X-ray machines for the challenging task of detecting broken glass in tomato-paste jars.

Ameen Fadel, president and co-founder of Cedar Valley Selections, concludes: “We’re listed in 1,300 stores across the country. As you grow your business, you encounter more challenges. We’ll continue to rely on Plan Automation for food safety and packaging.”
