A Preventative Packaging Safety Standard
Designed and structured to ensure that scientific, preventative food safety controls will be applied in a systematic and consistent manner, PACsecure is the most comprehensive food safety HACCP standard for packaging materials in the world.

The PACsecure protocol ensures that plastics, paper, metal and glass packaging standards harmonize with the international protocol used by the global food-and-beverage industry: Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).

The PAC has developed the standards under the guidance of the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) and Agriculture Canada through an 80-member steering committee comprised of team-members from food industry leaders Kraft, Natrel, Nestlé, Parmalat, Smucker Foods and Sobeys, and a host of packaging converters, including Jones Packaging.

On June 6, 2007, the PAC and one of our partners, QMI-SAI, certified the two manufacturing plants of London, Ontario-based PAC member, Jones Packaging, as the inaugural recipient of the new food safety standards.

Larry Shortt, manager for compliance & regulatory affairs for this leading package converter, states: “PACsecure is a comprehensive and rigid HACCP principle-based standard. Its application in our two Ontario plants not only has improved our manufacturing processes, but it also satisfies the needs of many of our domestic and international food-processing customers.

“They now have improved confidence in the safety of our products.”
