Cuts to Maple Leaf Foods

In an effort to streamline costs, Maple Leaf Foods to slash 400+ management positions.

Maple Leaf Foods Inc., says it is eliminating more than 400 management positions, in an effort to curtail costs after recently opening on of Canada’s largest meat processing facilities in Hamilton, Ont.

While most of the job cuts will take place before year end, the remainder will occur in 2016.

It is expected that close to 50 percent of the job cuts will occur at the Maple Leaf Foods headquarters in Mississauga, with around 60 others coming from the new Hamilton plant.

Maple Leaf Foods has about 12,000 employees across Canada, and exports to 20 countries around the globe.
