Converting Excel-Pac

“We apply the practices and behaviors of our sustainability mindset to ensure the cleanest and safest production environment in our industry,” De Civita insists.
The wholistic and integrated approach to quality, safety and sustainability naturally encourages the company’s clients to cooperate closely with Excel-Pac in the development of innovative new packaging structures.

“We have developed a number of products at the request of our clients—like Dare and Viau—in the area of ‘green’ flexible packaging, from compostable printed candy-wrap to rollstock for tea-bag packaging; from biodegradable PLA (polylactic acid) plastic lidding to oxy-biodegradable polyethylene bags for string cheese overwrap,” De Civita points out.

“As sustainability began gaining momentum in our industry over the last year or so,” he reflects, “we felt that we had a head start on everyone else because we already had the tools in place to make things happen.”

Adds Excel-Pac president Vincent Musacchio: “Sustainability has been a fundamental belief on which we have built our company. Our goal at Excel-Pac is to become the first company recognized as 100-percent sustainable in every aspect of its operation, and to be the industry leader in safe and sensible flexible packaging products.”
