Over the May 24 weekend, a fire broke out at the Parton Lumber Company Inc. plant, in Rutherfordton, NC. While no one was hurt, a lot of the company’s equipment was caught in the blaze, including a Fortress Technology Inc. Phantom metal detector.
Despite the hostile environment surrounding the Phantom, the power remained on and the control panel was still running after the fire was put out.
Despite the horrible charring to the unit, Furman Parton, owner of the lumber company notes: "We have definitely put this detector to the test and it has passed with flying colors."

Considering the simple operation, exceptional performance, and now having seen the outstanding reliability of the Phantom, Parton has placed an order for a replacement unit. Ideally suited for scanning whole logs and for chipper protection, the Phantom Lumber Metal Detector is a large scale metal detection solution built rugged specifically for the lumber industry.
