Innovative vacuum packaging system in many varieties from SEALPAC.

A safe and attractive packaging under vacuum, significantly longer shelf life, and improved presentation possibilities are just some of the benefits of the innovative TraySkin system, where the product is hermetically sealed inside the tray by means of a high-transparent barrier skin film.

SEALPAC International, supplier of highly modern tray-sealing and thermoforming technology, has now developed a solution that allows even larger products to be securely packaged in the TraySkin application.

SEALPAC’s proven TraySkin solution offers numerous benefits to its users. The product is vacuum packaged directly in the tray by means of a tight film that fits the contours of the product like a second skin. This skin film, perfectly tuned to the application, provides excellent barrier protection during the product’s entire life cycle.

The result is more freshness, extended shelf life and often improved product properties, as the food maintains its quality and consistency, while convincing customers with an optimal taste.

As an option, different opening aids are available that enable a flawless removal of the skin film when opening the pack. The secure fixation of the product in the tray prevents it from moving, as well as reduces drip-loss.

This makes TraySkin extremely suitable for vertical presentation at retail. No matter if it concerns meat, poultry, seafood, convenience snacks or entire ready meals with multiple components, as long as certain physical conditions are taken into account, TraySkin can be applied across the entire range of fresh and frozen food products.

High or Wide—No Problem
With TraySkin xplus (see image at top, courtesy of SEALPAC) now also bulky products, such as larger pieces of meat or whole roasts, can be skin packaged reliably in trays, even with significant protrusion.

The preformed tray provides stability to the product, therefore allowing a unique protrusion of up to 90 mm above the tray edge. Here, the TraySkin xplus system contributes to more sustainability, as the solution allows for the use of flatter trays for such high products, hence providing a more economical use of consumables.

The tight and transparent skin film provides a full view of the product. By being able to actually feel the contours of the product, the consumer’s positive visual impression is confirmed. TraySkin xplus packs can be sealed trouble-free on any of SEALPAC’s A-series traysealers, after which they are easily labelled or upgraded with a cardboard sleeve.

Well-protected yet highly visible and tangible, the TraySkin xplus makes any product a true eye-catcher at retail.

One method—many varieties
The TraySkin xplus system can be applied to numerous pack formats, from standard to specialty, and runs with many different materials, such as PP, CPET or aluminum.

In addition, TraySkin xplus, depending on the application, is available in a number of variations, such as TenderPac. This two-compartment vacuum packaging system, primarily for fresh red meat, separates the product from the drip-loss that occurs during maturation by means of the special ActiveStick. As such, appearance, shelflife and flavor of the meat are positively influenced.

Another interesting variation is TraySkin xplus packaging with a special skin film that allows self-venting. Here, the valve functionality of the film enables gentle steam cooking of the contents. The heating of the product under elevated but controlled pressure allows for short cooking times.

All TraySkin variations can be produced on the entire range of SEALPAC A-series traysealers.

These efficient and high-output machines, which can achieve almost any pack size and format, are equipped with an innovative tooling quick exchange system that allows easy changeovers to other packaging systems with minimum downtime, hence providing maximum flexibility to food processors that run a combination of TraySkin and MAP (modified atmosphere packaging), or any other tray-sealing concept for that matter.
