Boucherville, July 8, 2020.  Produlith was named the winner of the Gutenberg Prize in the ‘packaging’ category during the  2020 gala which took place last June 11th in Montreal.  We are very proud to share the result of our meticulous work and the reflection of our knowledge in the design and manufacture of paperboard packaging.

The packaging of the Johnson & Johnson’s, Children’s Tylenol dissolve packs® was the result of a collaborative approach.

This paperboard packaging, created according to complex technical requirements, along with multiple specifications and directives, presented no compromise in terms of the safety.  Several productivity tests have been carried out since 2017 to ensure the quality and resistance of the pharmaceutical product. The inks and varnishes selected comply with the strictest regulations on chemical composition and heavy metal content. In addition, the varnish chosen is specially designed to act as a barrier preventing any migration of components through the box.

This first order of 210,000 boxes, intended for the American market, allowed the pharmaceutical giant to attract the attention of consumers in stores while offering safe, quality packaging at competitive prices. Furthermore, this is the first time that Johnson & Johnson has seen the packaging of one of its products awarded a Gutenberg prize.

Since 2006, the team led by Shawn Desmarchais, joined by Annick Garcin in 2015, has won more than 15 mentions, medals or prizes at the Gutenberg Gala.  According to the president, this prize is particularly pleasing: ‘We take the creation of each product to heart.  The  production process of this box allowed us to test our motivation, our determination and our expertise. The pharmaceutical industry, along with the food industry, for  health and safety reasons, are very  demanding and a force to overtake. This award makes us very proud,’ adds Shawn Desmarchais.
