Hartmann North America donates $10,000 to COVID-19 food-bank relief funds

BRANTFORD, ON – June 1, 2020 – Hartmann North America is united in the fight against hunger and feeding North America. Today the sustainable packaging company announced its commitment to assist Feeding America and Food Banks Canada by donating a combined total of $10,000 to COVID-19 Relief Efforts. The donation will assist in distributing food supply among the organizations’ over 850 food banks across Canada and the USA as they respond and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hunger and food insecurity rises drastically each day, both Food Banks Canada and Feeding America have launched COVID-19 relief efforts to meet the increased needs and prepare for the challenges in the weeks and months to come. It is estimated that food banks across both Canada and the USA will experience a 20-30% increase in the amount of people needing help and that number will continue to rise.

“As a manufacturer working in the food industry, it is very important for us to step up to the plate to ensure that everyone has access to healthy, sustainable food,” says Karl Broderick, President of Hartmann North America. “This donation to these great organizations will assist those who need it most to have access to food security.”

Food Banks Canada and Feeding America both work to distribute food and finances to their established networks of food banks. A donation like Hartmann’s will help to put food on food banks shelves and provide equipment to help protect clients, staff, and volunteers during these unprecedented times. It will have an immediate impact and assist the network of Food Banks keep up with the rising demand for their programs.

The donation is a part of the company’s corporate social responsibility plan through the COVID-19 crisis. To date, they have also donated 2000 protective masks to the Brantford General Hospital.
