Food packaging inspection—featuring label verification and SureDotOCR dot-matrix reading tool—to be focus of Matrox booth No. 8152.

MONTREAL—At Las Vegas Pack Expo 2017, held September 25–27, 2017, Matrox Imaging in Upper South Hall, Booth 8152 will demonstrate a food packaging integrity and verification project created using Matrox Design Assistant 5 flowchart-based vision software.

Verifying label application as well as reading dot-matrix text, the project will run on the Matrox 4Sight GPm vision controller paired with the new Matrox Iris GTR smart camera and two additional cameras.

Matrox will also have a fully functional software demo station, providing visitors the opportunity to explore the range of capabilities of Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) 10, with its all-new MIL CoPilot interactive evaluation and prototyping environment, as well as the integrated project templates of Matrox Design Assistant 5. Based on the needs of the visitor, Matrox Imaging experts will be able to run through how MIL and Design Assistant can be used to quickly and effectively execute any machine vision project.

On Display
Matrox SureDotOCR, a software tool specifically designed for the unique challenge of reading dot-matrix text, is now integrated with both MIL and Matrox Design Assistant software. SureDotOCR is straightforward in use, providing the ability to quickly verify product details and accurately track and trace product throughout production and distribution—a crucial quality-control measure for meeting regulatory requirements.

Matrox Design Assistant is the first hardware-independent integrated development environment (IDE) that lets users build a machine vision project based on an application flowchart and HMI (human-machine interface). Freed from the need for conventional programming, developers can take machine vision projects from concept to completion in record time.

Matrox Iris GTR is an extremely rugged, IP67-rated smart camera. Measuring just 75mm x 75mm x 54mm, the Iris GTR fits easily into tight and dirty spaces. Powered by CMOS image sensors with high readout rates and an Intel Celeron dual-core embedded processor, it capably inspects fast-moving lines and performs more inspections in an allotted time.

Matrox 4Sight GPm—a vision controller featuring a unique combination of embedded PC technology, compact size, and ruggedness—is an ideal solution for cost-sensitive image analysis and machine vision applications.

MIL 10 is a comprehensive collection of software tools for developing machine vision applications, with tools optimized for every step in the process—from application feasibility to prototyping, through to development and deployment. MIL 10 with Processing Pack 2 includes the SureDotOCR dot-matrix text reader, a reliable ellipse finder, an updated metrology tool for 3D cross-section extraction and analysis, and a barcode reader that works in more instances than ever without need to adjust default settings.

A 64-bit Windows-based application, MIL CoPilot provides a unified interactive environment to experiment with MIL, allowing programmers to test one or more approaches to solving an application before writing any code.
