Specialty foods manufacturer completes acquisition of Waterloo-based sausage maker.

Premium Brands Holdings Corporation of Richmond, B.C. has completed the purchase of the assets and operating divisions of Waterloo, Ont. based Piller Sausages & Delicatessens for $75.4 million.

George Paleologou, president and chief executive officer of Premium Brands states, “Piller’s, combined with our existing deli businesses, will create a unique national deli platform with an exceptional management team, state- of- the- art manufacturing facilities and a number of iconic brands.”

Piller’s, founded in 1957, has been a family-owned Canadian business that had annual sales of approximately $180-million and more than 600 employees. Piller’s has five Ontario-based plants totaling over 500,000-square-feet producing a diverse range of European-style sausages and delicatessen meats.

Premium Brands owns a broad range of specialty food manufacturing and differentiated food distribution businesses, with operations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Washington State and Nevada.
