EAGLE VISION
Engineered for reliable performance in food, beverage and other industry applications, the new Vassoyo tray-erector from Eagle Packaging—designed for processing corrugated one-piece solid bottom trays, with or without a lid—is outfitted with a number of innovative quick-changeover features to enable it to handle a diverse range of tray sizes at speeds up to 50 trays per minute, with its oversized mechanical drive helping ensure long durability, low maintenance requirements, and low cost of ownership. The Vassoyo machine’s heavy-duty construction encompasses sealed ball bearings and self-cleaning tracks for blank transfer; Nordson Pro Glue adhesive application technology; and timing belts on the drive to allow for clean, quiet, maintenance-free operation. The system’s easy-access panels ensure quick serviceability, while its onboard PLC (programmable logic controller) technology—offered either in Rockwell Automation’s Allen-Bradley series or via an Omron device—provides for easy adjustment of glue patterns, troubleshooting, and full access to all operational functions. Easily interfaced with almost any packaging equipment and accommodating many different discharge heights, this compact and mobile tray-erector also offers many options, including high-capacity blank hoppers and a lid-ejector system.

X-RAY PRECISION
The new Ishida X-ray inspection systems—distributed by Heat and Control Inc.—are available in entry-level and washdown-ready versions to suit a broad range of application requirements. Built to the IP69K standard for high-pressure washdown applications, the Ishida DK series X-ray systems feature multiple inspection functions to accurately detect all metals, glass, bone, rock, shell, plastics and missing or defective product, with the Ishida’s proprietary Genetic Algorithm image adjusting technology automatically producing the optimal sensitivity setting without the use of expensive customized software, while the machine’s standard integrated hermetical water cooling system helps ensure reliable operation. For entry-level inspection of packaged products, the new EA series X-ray system—designed to provide accurate and cost-effective detection of foreign contaminants—features built-in package masking functions to cancel out peripheral areas of cartons, bag seals and package retaining clips, with system sensitivity easily adjusted as needed via the system’s full-color touchscreen. These new X-ray systems can be used for a wide variety of applications—including large cartons—with their detection accuracy remaining immune to any changes in product temperature, salt and water content. Both systems feature rapid machine warm-up for quick production startups, with the fully-automatic set-up eliminating the need for routine calibration.
