DEERFIELD, IL – The latest innovation by Pregis LLC, a leading producer of protective packaging products, is Pregis PolyMask 23107C – a temporary surface-protection film designed specifically for new-generation, fingerprint-resistant, or specialty-coated products.

Announced in a Pregis news release on July 10, PolyMask 23107C is a cost-effective solution that the manufacturer recommends for plastic and painted metal surfaces with light matte, high-gloss, or brushing finishing. It is a proprietary adhesive that exhibits the characteristics of emulsion-based acrylic and solvent-based rubber chemistry when coated on linear, low-density polyethylene film, the release noted.

We have spent years developing and testing this product, in order to provide a cost-effective, leading-edge solution for manufacturers looking to push surface-coating boundaries,” Steve Thompson, Pregis’ director of product applications, said in a press statement.

Thompson added that there had previously been a need for a temporary film that delivered desired protection attributes, due to “an increasing number of appliance manufacturers offering fingerprint-resistant finishes, plus automotive, building-material, and other companies marketing products with specialty coatings.”

With its smooth initial tack, PolyMask 23107C is built to deliver high cohesive strength and to resist micro-transfer to any substrate, Pregis stated in the release. The film is ideal for products with specialty coatings that add aesthetic qualities like gloss, tint, or colour, as well as coatings that prevent glare.

The company also recommends using PolyMask 23107C for finishes that show damage or imperfection easily. “It is also an ideal alternative for rubber-based solvent protective films [that] are frequently produced in other countries,” added Thompson.

Manufactured in the United States, PolyMask 23107C comes with a nine-day lead time, versus the minimum four-to-five-week lead time typically quoted by overseas producers. This capability helps manufacturers reduce inventory and improve speed-to-market.”

PolyMask 23107C followed a lengthy development phase in which Pregis staff had subjected the film to a variety of environmental tests, the company stated. The proprietary, water-based adhesive chemistry was found to be easily removable with no leftover residue even after months of heat aging.

Headquartered in Deerfield, IL, Pregis manufactures protective packaging material, equipment systems, and surface protection. It serves clients in a wide range of industries, from food processing and pharmaceuticals to agriculture, construction, the military, and the automotive sector.

Pregis is offering PolyMask 23107C in many thicknesses and widths for various applications, the company stated.
