Have a gander at Ocado Technology’s robotic customer fulfillment center that just may revolutionize the way online retailers operate behind the scenes.

Ocado Technology is a company that operates mostly within the UK, but with development offices across Europe.

It develops innovative software and systems that power the online grocery retail platforms of Ocado.com (the world’s largest online-only grocery retailer) and Morrisons (the UK’s fourth largest supermarket chain).

It also builds and develops systems for several general merchandising online retail businesses such as Fabled by Marie Claire, Fetch, and Sizzle.

It also has one of the most impressive robotics networks at its automated warehouse in Andover, Hampshire, England.

Becoming operational December 2016, the Andover fulfillment center is a marvel of aluminum grids moving stacked storage crates of groceries to over 250,000 grid storage locations.

Featuring 1,100 robots (or robotic systems), the robots travel between 50 to 60 kilometers a day at speeds up to four meters per second or 8.95 miles per hour.

The robots pick up crates from each stack and deliver them to pick stations where personal shoppers assemble the customer orders.
