Loma System’s new X5c compact X-Ray inspection system provides a cost-effective solution with a small footprint.

The streamlined X5c compact X-Ray inspection system from Loma Systems was developed in response to a growing demand for a more cost effective yet highly functional X-Ray solution.

With a machine length of just 1000mm, the X5c offers first-class CCP protection in the smallest footprint possible. Loma’s X5c is primarily aimed at companies running multi-product, retail ready lines who are keen to make the switch to X-Ray inspection technology for the first time.

The X5c X-Ray is ideal for the detection of glass, calcified bone, rubber, stone as well as ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless-steel metal in various packaging, even in metalized film. It is also capable of checking the product integrity by counting or identifying missing items.

Adhering to the company’s ‘Designed to Survive’ ethos, the X5c is rated IP66 while offering a non-lead and ultra-hygienic design for easy cleaning, low maintenance and easy serviceability. For instance, a quick release belt can be removed without the need for tools which eases the cleaning. The sloping surfaces of the machine were also purposely designed to stop food particles and washdown droplets from accumulating in crevices to reduce drying time.

The X5c incorporates a detector array with optimum diode pitch offering a low power and self-contained high efficiency X-Ray generator which significantly reduces the cost of ownership of X-ray inspection technology. A simple, effective cooling mechanism ensures a long tank life as well.

With the BRC (British Retail Consortium) Global Standard for Food Safety and retailers’ Codes of Practice further recognizing the use of X-Ray inspection systems in the food industry, Loma used its knowledge, experience and resources to build a system that offers major cost advantages and opens up X-Ray inspection technology to those companies who previously considered it too expensive.
