General Advanced Ink Technology Corrugated board packaging ink natural organic polymerAdvanced Ink Technology of Hamilton, Ont. has developed a low-cost press stable ink system for the corrugated boxboard industry.
In an effort to provide customers with an economical and greener alternative for ink consumables, Advanced Ink Technology of Hamilton, Ont. has taken advantage of new technology in the manufacture of a natural organic polymer.
Although the new ink, AWT-322B Letdown is not completely natural, Advanced Ink fairly claims that there is no less than 35 per cent natural organic compound in the formula, though there is a concerted effort to continue in its goal to produce a more environmentally-friendly product.
The new organic polymer not only lowers the costs of the inks, but enhances its green status., and will also offer clean printability while providing a suitable backbone to keep the ink system stable.
The organic compound is designed to break down in land fill in approximately 10 days, and according to Advanced Ink, will pose no issues in water reclamation processes.
Also, the recyclability of the finished corrugated, bag or board products will be enhanced by the natural organic polymer.
