Have it your way at McDonald’s

General Burger customization at McDonald's McDonalds Table service at McDonald's

Test-run underway in California for McDonald's customers to build their customized burger.

Taking a decades-old cue from a regal competitor, McDonald’s is testing out whether having it your way may be the next way.

At the 600 participating McDonald’s restaurants in California, customers may use the Taste Crafted menu to decide which bun, toppings or even if its chicken or beef that will make up their burger.

These restaurants are also offering four pre-set combinations, which sounds a lot like what they have now, but a test is a test.

The concept was introduced by McDonald’s this past summer in San Francisco, where customers could customize their burger via a Create Your Taste kiosk—though the company had previously offered that customization program in other markets.

The new Taste Crafted menu has been tested since November 30, 2015 in California, but McDonald’s notes that it is also testing out upscale table service at 100 other restaurants in the Orange County, Ca. area.
