See video: “Thanks to Paxiom, I’m not afraid of robotics anymore,” says organic snack-foods VP of Operations

In this video, Prana Biovegan Foods in Montreal, Que. reveals how simple it was to incorporate a three-piece end-of-line system with pick-and-place robotics for packaging their organic snack-food pouches in corrugated boxes.

Alon Farber, CEO of Prana Foods, says of his company, “We are out to change the food system… to find the balance between food that appeals to people and which is also good for them, and which promotes a healthier environment.”

“Packaging is very important to our business… we chose Paxiom because they have a great reputation and were very accommodating,” he continues. “What was developed was a first for them and for us.”

Julie Séguin, VP of Operations, adds, “The Paxiom three-machine system is very simple and does not take up a lot of space.”

Watch in the video as Julie demonstrates how an Endflex Boxxer automatically opens corrugate blanks to form open boxes that then feed into a Valtara PKR Delta robotic pick-and-place machine that loads pouches in six, eight or 12 counts into the boxes. The filled boxes then transit into the Endflex case sealer that completes the process for shipping.

Paxiom Territory Manager Andre Strul demonstrates the ease with which the HMI on the Valtara PKR Delta stores recipes and operates in a manual toggle option or fully automatic.

Julie finishes, “It’s been easy sailing with Paxiom.” The three-machine system provides an easy-to-manage and labour-saving introduction to full automation with robotics and vision.

“We are in good hands with Paxiom,” concludes Alon Farber.
