Company seeking to offer solution for label converters to turn waste into energy.

UPM Raflatac partnered with Labelexpo Americas at this year’s event in Chicago to provide a solution for exhibiting label converters to responsibly dispose of their label, matrix and liner waste and give it a new life in the form of energy.

UPM Raflatac collected the label waste generated by exhibitors and showcased it in their waste collection feature area. After the conclusion of the expo, the label waste was sent for energy recovery.

Responsibly managing waste and keeping it from being landfilled is a challenge for the labeling industry. UPM Raflatac is a frontrunner in providing solutions for managing label waste and we look forward to partnering with our customers and end-users on our road towards “zero waste to landfill” and promoting recycling.

“Our goal was to showcase that there are alternative means of responsible disposal aside from the landfill,” says UPM Raflatac, Americas sustainability specialist Tyler Matusevich, who manned the company’s waste collection area during the event. “And we did a great job educating the many visitors who stopped by. The initiative provided perspective that there are a lot of opportunities to utilize label waste as a resource to make new products or energy.”
