The VOSP—Voice of Sustainable Pork—provides answers to what pork processors can and should do.

Every year, one-third of the food produced around the world is wasted.

Worth a whopping US$1 trillion, the lost food also amounts to wasted resources, unnecessary damage to the environment and—perhaps most significantly—a missed chance to improve global food security.

At a time when pressure on land use is becoming increasingly significant, produced but uneaten food occupies almost 3.5 billion acres (1.4 billion hectares) of land—almost 30 percent of the world’s agricultural land area.

The Voice of Sustainable Pork (VOSP) looks at the role pig processors can play in tackling this issue.
