Longer shelf life for produce?
A new edible coating applied to strawberries found to more than double its shelf life.

According to a recent Gizmag article penned by David Szondy, researchers at the University San Nicolás de los Garza in Mexico have developed an edible coating made from pectin, pullulan and chitosan that more than doubles the shelf life of strawberries without affecting their taste.
