Canada Fibers & Urban Polymers MRF & PRF Tour

See the circular economy in action at Canada Fibers’s resource recovery and recycling campus – a PAC, Packaging Consortium-sponsored event.

Come visit Canada Fibers & Urban Polymers’ unique, vertically-integrated site in Toronto, featuring state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) and a Plastic Recycling Facility (PRF).

Tours will start in the larger MRF, where visitors will see where the City of Toronto’s Blue Box material is processed.

Processing capacity of approximately 260,000 tonnes of recyclables per year, makes it the largest single-stream MRF in Canada. Visitors will have the opportunity to follow some of the bales from the MRFs, next door to Urban Polymers. There, it is sorted, ground, and washed by plastic type and color, and either flaked or compounded into small colorful pellets that are exceptional in quality and purity for post-consumer resins. These sustainable resources go on to be used in the production of packaging, automotive parts, construction and home improvement products.

This tour is an exclusive opportunity to see resource sortation and reintegration on one property. Visitors will gain a unique perspective into how the circular economy is already in motion at Canada Fibers’s 12 facilities located throughout Ontario.
