International packaging concepts and innovative EasyLid system achieved with highly modern SEALPAC technology.

The interpack 2014 exhibition, which takes place in Düsseldorf (Germany) from May 8-14, 2014, is perhaps this year’s most important driving force for the global packaging industry.

As one of 2,700 exhibitors from over 60 different countries, SEALPAC, leading supplier of modern tray-sealing and thermoforming technology, will be presenting some ground-breaking concepts at its stand C19 in hall 5.

Here, next to highly efficient SEALPAC equipment, visitors can expect a wide range of innovative packaging solutions. Part of the impressive display of global innovations will be the recently introduced and particularly sustainable EasyLid system, which is already enjoying huge interest at food retailers.

Supermarket for inspiration
A highlight at the SEALPAC stand will be its fully stocked supermarket. With numerous refrigerators, display coolers, shelves and showcases the specialist will be promoting exclusive packaging innovations from around the world, all produced on SEALPAC traysealers and thermoformers.

Exhibited in a realistic retail environment, visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to convince themselves of the quality and functionality of new packaging solutions, as well as get inspired by unique and effective presentation styles.

Going one step further, in a special section of its supermarket SEALPAC will be showing 3D models that will give visitors an idea of packaging solutions of the future.

Innovative EasyLid concept
Less packaging materials, more efficiency—under the brand name EasyLid SEALPAC was able to develop a unique seal and lid in one solution. Hermetic sealing and lidding of the tray takes place in one single step.

The trick: upon opening the pack a re-closable lid is automatically created, which allows for consumer-friendly storage of the packaged product. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the production of EasyLid packs live on a compact SEALPAC A4 traysealer.

The benefits of the EasyLid system—clear saving of packaging materials, reduced investment costs and higher convenience for consumers – recently convinced one of the biggest retailers in the industry.

Shortly after the introduction of the EasyLid system at the IFFA 2013 exhibition in Frankfurt, one of Germany’s major retailers decided to focus nationwide on this new packaging technology.

Produced both in Germany and The Netherlands by two leading processors of salads and ready-to-use vegetable mixes, various fresh salads are now packed for the German retail giant in EasyLid trays with a unique feature: the salad’s components, including the separately packed dressing, are marketed in a multi-compartment EasyLid tray.

By opening the pack, placing all the components inside and then pouring the dressing over the salad, the EasyLid system allows the consumer to safely re-close the pack with the lid and shake it. The result is a perfectly mixed and ready-to-eat salad.

Complete line for packaging of poultry
In close cooperation with Marel, SEALPAC will also present a complete line solution for poultry.

At the very heart of this line will be the extremely flexible and servo-driven SEALPAC A7 traysealer, which is particularly suitable for packaging a wide range of products in varying quantities.

Line specialist Marel supplies a sustainable and innovative system for weight-based pricing by printing directly onto the packaging without the use of labels. After sealing, each pack is weighed one more time and checked by SEALPAC‘s reliable packaging inspection unit PacInspect to see if the printed data match the registered weight to create a closed and error-free system.

As the PacInspect unit, which also achieves flawless mechanical inspection, creates and stores a digital image of each inspected product, the system allows for maximum traceability. The line is completed with the powerful pick-and-place robot PacCollect, which fully automatically positions the sealed trays into their transport packaging.

Maximum flexibility with SEALPAC All-in-One thermoformer
SEALPAC’s RE-series thermoformers are renowned within the industry for their packaging performance and optimal film forming capabilities, whilst demonstrating an extremely efficient use of consumables and energy.

In addition, their All-in-One concept offers maximum flexibility. All major packaging solutions, such as rigid film MAP (modified atmosphere packaging), flexible film vacuum, TenderPac, shrink packaging, and even skin packaging with a second top film, can be applied on the same thermoformer with minimum effort. This allows end users to produce a wide variety of packaging concepts with highest output and short changeover times.

At interpack 2014, SEALPAC will demonstrate the potential of its thermoforming equipment on the basis of an innovative TriWeb pack for seafood, hence responding to the increasing demand for skin packaging in Europe.
