General Bosch Rexroth

From Bosch Rexroth Canada–the Canadian subsidiary of Bosch Rexroth AG, one of the world’s leading specialists in the field of drive and control technologies–comes an expanded portfolio of control solutions, new I/O modules for decentralized operation with IP 67 protection, I/O bus couplers for Ethernet-based field buses, and an optimized range of HMI solutions.

The new IndraControl L25 controller from Rexroth expands the controller-based automation solution IndraMotion MLC for medium-power applications. Built-in SERCOS III and standard Ethernet interfaces are used for communication. All peripheral devices are integrated via a SERCOS III all Ethernet-based architecture. Control data can be accessed quickly via a Web browser and the IndraMotion service tool for commissioning and end customer service activities.

The new control platform provides integrated PLC applications to IEC 61131-3 with motion and robot control using a single low-cost hardware platform. The modular device concept of the robust IndraControl S67 I/O system with IP 67 protection ensures reliable operation, even under extreme wash-down conditions in the field. Cabinet-free installation in close proximity to the machine also promotes flexibility during the design stage. The hardware architecture provides for optimized data transmission of time-critical signals and offers high flexibility for connecting sensors and actuators. SERCOS III will add to the fieldbus interfaces already available for PROFIBUS, PROFINET, and Ethernet/IP by the end of 2010.

Three new bus couplers for SERCOS III, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP supplement Rexroth’s modular inline I/O system and can each integrate up to 61 I/O modules from the complete modular I/O system into new, Ethernet-based network topologies. More advanced electronics enable higher-density for standard I/O modules. New inline modules with eight digital inputs/outputs complement the already available high-density modules with 32 digital inputs/outputs by reducing the installation space required and by offering a noticeably lower channel price as compared to standard components.

IndraControl VEP and VEH with INTEL ATOM

Rexroth uses INTEL ATOM processors for the HMI series of embedded PCs, IndraControl VEP. The compact installation panels are available with screens measuring 8.4", 12", and 15" (diagonal). Rexroth offers a cost-effective entry-level setup for PC-based visualization with high-resolution TFT displays with standard touch operation, USB 2.0 interfaces for peripherals, and fast Ethernet interfaces. In devices with two compact flash slots for reliable, fast-access mass storage, it also combines small dimensions with a robust, service-friendly version.

Rexroth is expanding the series with the IndraControl VEH30 hand-held control unit for mobile operation and visualization via an 8.4" touchscreen. IndraControl VEP device is running Microsoft Windows embedded and coupled with the Rexroth WinStudio HMI software provide a high-performance HMI platform for advanced motion logic and robotic automation applications.

High-resolution 19" TFT displays with touchscreen operation or machine function buttons enhance the product range of IndraControl VDP operating displays for Rexroth industrial PCs and can be positioned up to 60 meters away from the control cabinet. The hotplug-capable CDI interface reliably transmits video, keyboard, and USB signals and simplifies mounting and installation. Up to four displays can be simultaneously operated from an industrial PC.
