CINCINNATI, OH—With the release of The Amazing Spider-Man movie this summer, both QC Industries and FANUC Robotics have lent a hand in creating the latest super-villain to battle the spectacular Spider-Man.

The privately-held QC industries was chosen to provide low profile conveyors for lab scenes in the movie, with several AS40 Automation Series Conveyors moving vials through the spider nursery that are then transferred using robots built by FANUC.

Rather than building his own futuristic, high-tech conveyors, art director Page Buckner said he decided to use QC Industries’ aluminum extruded AS40 conveyors because they helped “ground viewers to reality” by showing something that looks “familiar and real” while still providing the high-tech look the scene required.

One of the conveyors used in the film was returned to QC Industries autographed by the cast, including Andrew Garfield (plays Peter Parker aka Spider-Man), Emma Stone (plays Gwen Stacy), Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary and director Marc Webb.

The conveyor will be exhibited at events and trade shows, including October’s Pack Expo International 2012 in Chicago.

QC Industries turned to long-time partners Habasit America and Oriental Motor to provide belts and motors, respectively, that appeared on the conveyors in the film.

For your inner geek, The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker, an outcast high schooler abandoned by his parents as a boy (they were actually international spies in the comic book series), leaving him to be raised by his aunt and uncle. Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
