Canadian Packaging always provides a product review of some of the exhibitors at the Las Vegas Pack Expo tradeshow (September 26-28, 2011) in our 2011 Buyer’s Guide issue – here’s a few that, because of space limitations, didn’t make it in:
The display of Spee-Dee Packaging Machinery, Inc. will feature the company’s new four-lane, multiaxis 3600 Series Digitronic auger filler, designed and manufactured to ensure high-accuracy filling of drink mixes, cocoa, soup mixes and coffee, into rigid containers into rigid containers. Incorporating a common hopper with a dual infeed flow, the addition of extra delivery lanes will enable packagers to achieve significant productivity gains in high-output production environments, according to the company, with its special drawer-slide feature enabling the filling head to be easily removed from the conveyor to facilitate access to tooling and to simplify changeover, cleaning and maintenance functions. Controlled via an intuitive touchscreen operator interface with user-friendly graphics and pop-up menus, the machine offers the ability to make adjustments while the filling is in progress, providing optimal production flexibility.

A-B-C Packaging Machine Corporation is planning to unveil the company’s new their partition opener/inserter designed for for-high volume packaging lines that feeds partitions into two cases simultaneously via servo-powered handling devices. Incorporating servo-driven operation to blend the partition indexing/opening and inserting into one harmonious function one harmonious action that ensures gentle handling for smooth opening, precise placement and efficient-case packing, the system employs lateral stabilizers to square each partition after opening to “lock” the partition’s interlocking panels, thereby ensuring smooth insertion into the waiting case or tray.

Permanent product coding systems manufacturer Telesis Technologies Inc. will showcase the company’s latest addition it to its E-series line of diode-pumped laser marking systems. Designed as a low-cost, small-footprint laser coder, the new EVC model laser system is designed for high-speed, on-the-fly application code generation without the “burn-through” on delicate foil substrates while ensuring high-contrast code legibility on HDPE and other plastics when producing lighting-fast marking on chip boards, plastic bottles and many other packaging materials. Boasting a VO4 end-pumped laser design with a remote, fiber-coupled diode pump source—as well as an average diode life of greater than 25,000 working hours—the EVC laser incorporates a rugged industrial design to enable its use in harsh environments with high shock, vibration and dust levels.
