Klöckner Pentaplast‘s Pentapharm film product line has been extended to include Pentapharm kpVantage polyester films for pharmaceutical blister packaging.

The first of its kind, Pentapharm kpVantage films are high-performance polyester films which incorporate a wide range of structures to meet pharmaceutical packaging needs. These innovative films are designed to be processed on existing equipment maintaining all critical package components with no need to change tooling, lidding, or package design.

The films can be used as mono films for pharmaceuticals requiring low moisture barrier or they can be integrated into barrier structures for products that require more protection from moisture and gas. These films are ideal for solid oral-dose packaging, ethical drugs, OTC (over-the-counter), generics, physician samples, veterinary medicine, and nutraceuticals. Compared to standard materials, the films offer a wide forming window for optimal thermoforming; form at lower temperatures therefore decreasing energy use and increasing line speed; and punch and perforate cleanly, with no angel hair.

Pentapharm kpVantage films also offer a full range of barrier protection with common contact material and process consistently with no neck-in and good registration. In addition, these films lay flat for improved performance on filling stations; have enhanced tensile properties for superior toughness; and provide brilliant clarity and superior optical and surface qualities.

“As a worldwide leader in the production of rigid polyester films and a trusted source for pharmaceutical films, we are exceptionally well positioned to deliver total solutions like Pentapharm kpVantage films,” notes Daniel Stagnaro, Klöckner Pentaplast’s business manager of pharmaceutical films for the Americas. “These pioneering films give customers the option of using polyester-based materials without having to invest in costly package redesign, new machinery, or change their lidding structures to meet their moisture and oxygen barrier film needs."

Pentapharm kpVantage films are offered globally and manufactured throughout the worldwide network of Klöckner Pentaplast’s production facilities.
