When good labels go too far.

Labeling is an important part of the packaging industry – especially for the consumer who utilizes it.

When it comes to food labels, it can be used to provide product information like weights, pricing, best-before dates, how to prepare the food, how to store it, where it was produced and by whom.

Of course, a good food label will also list nutritional values and ingredients, in case there are things in it one is allergic to, or simply don’t want as part of a diet.

And that’s just for food. The same care and thought is put into a good label by any brand owner.

And then there’s overkill, as this package of roasted chickpeas from a U.K. company demonstrates.

Trying to decide if this label is amusing or irritating. Or p... on Twitpic

Yes... but are there chickpeas in it?

For the record, Canadian Packaging magazine saw this on a post from PrintWeek.
