Automation Design & Innovation Bottling BrewExpo America Handles for cans Pro Mach Roberts PolyPro

The design and vibrant colors of the new Roberts PolyPro handles give cans eye-catching appeal, with the new handle applicator for four- and six-packs rated at 10 24-can cases per minute.

CHARLOTTE, NC—At BrewExpo America in Washington, DC (April 11-13, 2017)  Roberts PolyPro, powered by Pro Mach, has debuted a vibrant, innovative can handle for two-, four-, and six-packs of craft beer.

Craft brewers can either apply the handles by hand, or utilize the new Roberts PolyPro semi-automatic handle applicator, capable of packing up to 10 24-can cases per minute.

Roberts PolyPro takes sustainability seriously and has created recyclable handles that use 30 percent less plastic than ordinary, less appealing handles.

Tabs that push to hold and lift to remove give the handles their distinctive appearance. Brewers choose vibrant PMS colors that most attractively complement the pack’s graphic appeal.

The handles allow the cans to be closely stacked for efficient storage at the brewery. On outings, the handles can be reapplied for convenient carrying home to refrigerators for unopened packaging or to recycling bins for empties.

These new high density polyethylene (HDPE) handles are 100 percent recyclable.

“Craft brewers want to convey distinctiveness not only in their brews, but also in packaging,” says Roberts PolyPro product manager Richard Brothers. “We designed these handles with that intent. When people view these handles, their first reaction is to reach out and touch them. What better way to capture attention on crowded store shelves? Furthermore, the handles are consumer friendly in terms of getting them on and off and for recycling.”

The new semiautomatic applicator is easy to use and portable. Simply roll it out of the way when not in use. It was designed for speed and to satisfy the budgets of cost conscious brewers.

This applicator is compatible with 12- and 16-ounce cans. It is ideal for breweries and mobile canning companies. Applicator operators will be able to quickly pack cases and then be free for other duties. Learning how to operate the applicator requires only minutes.
