Venerable U.S. packaging distributor TricorBraun has made a concerted effort to expand into the Canadian marketplace with the mid-summer acquisition of Columbia Packaging, a distributor of beverage containers and related products located in Vancouver, B.C., for an undisclosed amount.

“We are excited about the growth potential of our business in Canada and the additional options and resources that will be available to our customers and personnel as we join the TricorBraun team,” says Columbia Packaging president Larry West, who founded the company in 1995.

Over the years, Columbia has diversified its product offering to specialize in the higher-end niche beverage markets, such as healthcare and sports nutrition.

Founded in 1902, St. Louis, Mo.-headquartered TricorBraun operates 32 facilities worldwide, including four full-service design, engineering and production centers in the U.S. and in China, with its proprietary packaging database featuring more than 32,000 items, including plastic and glass bottles, sprayers, dispensers, closures, pails, tubes, etc.

Says TricorBraun president Keith Strope: “We are excited about the opportunity to team with Columbia Packaging to grow our collective business in Canada.

“Our two companies share a common culture and a passion for innovation in the packaging business,” Strope adds. “Together, we are committed to providing our customers a comprehensive array of rigid packaging options designed and engineered to deliver success.”
