Sun Pac purchased by Liquidbrands

General acquisition beverage juice Liqidbrands inc. Sun Pac Foods Ltd.

Iconic family-owned business sold to private investment firm.

Sun Pac Foods Ltd., a Brampton, Ont.-based drink manufacturer privately owned for over 100 years has been purchased by Liquidbrands Inc., an investment firm owned privately by Csaba Reider.

While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, it was announced that Reider has taken over as the president and chief executive officer of Sun Pac effective November 7, 2011. Reider, a savvy industry veteran had previously held the president and chief executive officer reins of Xyience, and energy drink manufacturer. At Cott Beverages, he was vice-president of operations and at Cott Corporation he was the vice-president of global sourcing and Six Sigma.

Established in 1887, Sun Pac has been owned by the Riddell family since the 1930s. It’s current line-up of beverages includes: sports drinks, juice concentrates, frozen juices, natural teas, health-focused juices, as well croutons and crumbs under the McDowell Ovens brand and private label brands—all of which are distributed across Canada, the U.S. and the Caribbean.

The 355,000-square-foot Sun Pac manufacturing plant in Brampton is one of the largest independent hot-fill beverage facilities in North America.
