The Jonquiere paperboard mill in Quebec closes after difficult decision by owner.

ATLANTA—Graphic Packaging International Canada, ULC, a subsidiary of Graphic Packaging Holding Company announced the closure of its thermo mechanical paperboard mill in Jonquiere, Quebec effective July 13, 2015, affecting approximately 140 employees.

The decision was made as a result of a thorough assessment of the facility’s manufacturing capabilities, associated costs and market demand for its products.

“The closing of the Jonquiere facility was a difficult decision. We are working closely with the affected employees to provide support and assistance,” says Graphic Packaging president and chief operating officer Mike Doss.

Graphic Packaging Holding Company, headquartered in Atlanta, is a leading provider of packaging solutions for a wide variety of products to food, beverage and other consumer products companies. The company is one of the largest producers of folding cartons and holds a leading market position in coated-unbleached kraft, coated-recycled boxboard and specialty packaging.
