General Coding & Labeling Access Labels acquisition of label company Farnell Packaging

Access Labels of Dartmouth acquires the decal/sticker business.

Farnell Packaging of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia has sold its label-making division and all its label equipment to Access Labels—also of Dartmouth—the largest label printing company in Atlantic Canada.

Although Farnell—perhaps better known for its plastic bag manufacturing, shrink wrap and polyethylene packaging efforts—had been producing labels for the past five decades, it hadn’t seen any growth, and in fact, of its 185 total employees, just two were dedicated to the label market segment.

The rest of Farnell has seen a growth of 55 percent in revenues over the past five years.

With the purchase of the Farnell label assets, Access Labels should be able to increase its capacity by upwards of 30 percent.
