Austrian craft ale producer Bevog microbrewery has partnered with CROWN Bevcan Europe and Middle East in transitioning three of its ales’ packaging to cans.

PHILADELPHIA, PA—Bevog microbrewery, an Austrian craft ale producer dedicated to creating top quality brews in the British style, has partnered with CROWN Bevcan Europe and Middle East, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. to facilitate three of its ales’ progression into can packaging for the very first time.

Tak, Kramah and Deetz—the three ales pictured above—are considered to be innovative and striking brands in their own right, meaning Bevog needed a creative, experienced partner to bring its visions to life.

Bevog chose to work in partnership with Crown due to the company’s experience of working with clients from conception to completion on projects such as this.

Crown’s dedicated European Design Studio relished the challenge of bringing the three unique designs to life, working tirelessly for three days on translating existing labels into 360 degree artwork for use on the more versatile metal packaging format.

Following the product launch, the packaging was recognized at this year’s International Metal Decorators Association (IMDA) Excellence in Decorating Awards, winning the Best of Category for Craft Cans, as well as the Grand Award for best overall can.

Janez Zlebic responsible for design and promotion at Bevog, comments: “We were extremely impressed with the design team’s efforts and thoroughly appreciate their hard work on this project. It was clear that they understood the process entirely and worked very hard to make certain our designs were perfectly suited to the cans we intend to use.”

CROWN Bevcan Europe & Middle East marketing and business development director Matt Twiss adds: “At Crown we know that it’s important to work closely with our customers, not only to understand exactly what it is they would like to achieve, but also to include them in the process from start to finish. Our design team first changed Bevog’s images from CMYK format to spots, then continued to make repro changes until the final designs fitted the brief exactly. We’re thrilled with the success at this year’s IMDA awards, which is testament to the excellent results we can achieve by working collaboratively with our customers.

“Craft beer is growing ever stronger as a category in the European market and Crown’s customer base continues to widen across the continent. Austria, represented by Bevog, is the latest country to partner with Crown and we are delighted to have been able to help them move these three products into metal packaging.”

Bevog’s decision to move its ales into metal packaging was driven by the myriad benefits this format offers the craft beer market, both in terms of product protection from light and oxygen and also sustainability—utilizing a format which is infinitely recyclable and that contributes in no small way to the circular economy.
