Bemis acquires manufacturer Shield Pack

Bemis Company, Inc., a Neenah, WI-based supplier of flexible packaging and pressure-sensitive materials for the packaging industry has acquired Shield Pack, LLC of West Monroe, LA, a manufacturer of high-barrier liners for bulk container packaging with annual net sales of approximately $25 million. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
“This acquisition expands our reach into new market applications for bulk liquids and other products that require barrier packaging,” explains Henry Theisen, president and chief executive officer of Bemis Company, Inc. “Shield Pack’s expertise in moisture and oxygen barrier technology complements our existing technological capabilities and our focus on high barrier packaging solutions.”
Shield Pack is the inventor and leading supplier of intermediate bulk moisture barrier liners in the U.S. Founded in 1968, the company provides a large line of flexible packaging products servicing both dry and liquid applications.
While a lot of Shield Pack’s production takes place in its standard manufacturing facilities, its liner production for food applications and other demanding applications are done in a Class 100,000 certified cleanroom in a U.S. FDA (Food & Drug Administration)-inspected facility approved for the manufacture of dairy packaging certified to the ISO 9001:2000 standard.
