4D Printing is one better than 3D Printing

So… if you think the concept of 3D printing is awesome—and it is—get ready for what MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) is calling the next big thing.
With ‘time’ known as the fourth dimension, MIT brainiacs have developed a smart material that will, over time, expand and grow into a predetermined shape after it has been printed.
Apparently, one adds water to the material and—voila!—a whole new shape.
While there are no plans YET to utilize this concept within the packaging industry, the MIT scientists say it is looking for a manufacturing partner to help it explore possible results for the furniture, automobile and construction industries.
