Food Safety Food Recall for pizza products FSIS RFG Canada Inc. U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Services WEISS pizza

Meat and poultry pizza products sent to the U.S., have been recalled by Toronto processor over failure to properly present goods for inspection at the border.

Some 1,250- pounds of meat and poultry-based pizza products processed by Toronto’s RFG Canada Inc. have been recalled over a failure to inspect upon entry into the U.S.

The products in question are:

  • 30.3 oz. packages of Weis Self-Rising Pizza; Chicken Bacon Ranch containing UPC code 041497028337, Canada Establishment 411 and a best-before date of May 16 2017. Produced in Toronto on March 3, 2016;
  • 20.2 oz. packages of Weis Thin Crust Pepperoni Pizza 3 Pack containing UPC code 041497026524, Canada Establishment 411 and the best-before date of December 1, 2016. Produced in Toronto on August 17, 2016.

The goods were not presented to the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS) for re-inspection into America.

There are no reports of any sort of negative reaction from eating these products, but without the inspection there can be no guarantee.

The products were shipped to U.S. locations in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York.
