New feature on Facebook allows users to order take-out food from 10 popular restaurant chains in the U.S.

Social networking giant Facebook has launched a new feature whereby U.S. users can place an order for delivery or pick-up at 10 fastfood restaurant chains.

After testing the service since 2016, Facebook is launching the feature across the U.S. for customers on iOS, Android and desktop.

How does it work?

Simply look for restaurants near them (obviously no one is delivering across State lines) that take orders via: Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow, Zuppler, EatStreet, Slice, GrubHub and Olo,

OR:

Order directly from the 10 participating restaurant chains: Papa John’s, Wingstop, Panera Bread, Jack in the Box, TGI Friday’s, Denny’s, El Pollo Loco, Chipotle, Five Guys and Jimmy John’s.

To use the Facebook ordering option, look for the “Order Food” option in the “Explore” menu. You can then browse through the restaurant’s food options before selecting “Start Order”.

Users then are provided with the option of take-out or delivery—but only if the restaurant you have chosen offers options.

Going in via the Facebook feature, users may find that along with the restaurant chains noted above, local-area non-franchise restaurant options may show up food options as well.

There is currently no word of when or if the feature will be rolled out to international Facebook users.

It does not appear that Facebook is generating any revenue through the “Order Food” feature, nor is it being rewarded with a share of profits from any of the restaurants who receive orders via Facebook.

It seems to be yet another value-added feature to ensure social network users stay with Facebook.
