Reducing the amount of packaging in Walmart’s supply chain will play a large role in its ability to meet these goals, and it is expected the Packaging Scorecard will help pave the way.

The commitment to track and reduce packaging use was made by H. Lee Scott for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2005 and was reinforced in the recent Sustainability Summit in Beijing.

The Packaging Scorecard has been live in the U.S. since February 1, 2008, and Canada is now the first international country to participate.

Wal-Mart Canada has arranged for the Packaging Association of Canada (PAC) to provide vendor training sessions. Please contact the PAC for details on times and locations. Contact Lindsey Ogle at 416-490-7860 ext. 222 or logle@pac.ca or visit www.pac.ca.
