Noted global converter looks to continue its performance, leadership and transparency.

Cascades Inc., a Kingsey Falls, Que. global converter is launching its sustainable development plan which has determined 18 objectives it will strive to attain by the end of 2012. The purpose of these objectives is threefold: performance, leadership and transparency.

The foundation of Cascades’ sustainable development plan is based on consultation with its stakeholders which includes employees, customers, suppliers, investors and certain non-governmental organizations.

“The importance given to consulting with our stakeholders is what sets our sustainable development plan apart from others,” states Henry Sauvagnat, vice-president of sustainable development.

“By compiling our stakeholders’ comments, we were able to examine our current practices and make changes to some of them.”

The first stage of consultation took place in 2009 with the help of the firm Samson Bélair/Deloitte & Touche. The overall preparation of the plan and its commitments was supervised and validated by Climate for Ideas.org, a non-governmental environmental organization.
