Organized by Canadian Packaging magazine, the one-day table-top trade show garnered rave reviews from both the attendees and exhibitors.

On November 19, 2013 at the Mississauga Convention Centre, the initial edition of the Top 50 Packaging Ideas Expo took place with exhibitors smiling at the number of leads gathered during the one-day show.

Sponsored by SEW-Eurodrive Company of Canada Ltd., and organized by Canadian Packaging magazine, the event showcased just under 40 table-top exhibitors, and welcomed hundreds of visitors seeking innovative and technologically marvelous packaging solutions.

Equally as important, the exhibitors walked away happy armed with numerous leads for sales.

The most popular packaging technologies revolved around augmented reality which was being showcased by Atlantic Packaging Products Ltd., who were voted by the Expo visitors for their innovative packaging idea. (See image below)

If you aren’t sure what augmented reality is, you need to pay more attention to the advertising in Canadian Packaging magazine and even to the articles we post here on our website.

At the Expo, Atlantic Packaging Products offered visitors a free pack of kid’s dinosaur stickers/labels, that when accessed with an App via a smartphone animated the dinosaurs ON the screen of the smartphone. The labels became visually interactive.

Close on its heels, with an eye towards future uses being developed was ProVantage Automation of Ancaster, Ont., who offered actual excursions into virtual reality… showcasing a way to train packaging machine operators safely and inexpensively, without the risk of injury or equipment damage.
