Automation Nordson Corporation PureFlow hoses

New hoses designed to improve adhesive performance by reducing material degradation.

DULUTH, GA—The new PureFlow hoses from Nordson Corporation are engineered to drastically reduce the effects of adhesive degradation and extend the useful life of hoses in high-performance environments.

When adhesive sits inside of a typical heated hose, it begins to degrade. The effects of this degradation include charring, discoloration, curing and odors. Adhesive degradation can also lead to nozzle-clogging char, resulting in costly downtime and pop-opens, and can affect the rheology of the adhesive, yielding poor adhesive processing and machine pollution. Polluted and deteriorated adhesive can ultimately interfere with creating strong bonds on a package.

Degradation of adhesive used in many different applications—like product assembly or nonwovens—can impact the final product quality, as the adhesive color and odor can change in undesirable ways. Reactive PUR adhesives tend to cure within heated hoses and restrict flow, requiring frequent hose replacements. Only PureFlow hoses are designed to protect against these effects, significantly prolonging the useful life of the hose as a result.

Savvy customers who understood these effects have proactively replaced their hoses to avoid unplanned downtime. Demanding applications require the best performance from adhesive, which means preventing the negative effects of adhesive degradation. By reducing degradation, PureFlow technology (patent pending) allows customers to enjoy greater operation efficiency by vastly extending their preventative maintenance schedules for hoses and realize improved performance over the useful life.

PureFlow hoses are compatible with standard hot melt adhesives, reactive hot melt adhesives and most heated fluids, such as perfumes and lotions.

RediFlex II hangers are built onto standard PureFlow hoses to give users a way to easily install, move and replace hot melt hoses. Mounting hoses on a parent machine frame prevents damage, while routing provisions in the hangers provide a space for bundling a solenoid cable and air tubing with the hose. in a low profile similar to the shape of the hose cuff—meaning that if the end of the hose fits through a small space in the parent machine, so will the rest of the hose and hangers. Simply pressing a lever and sliding the hanger out of the mount removes the hose, and another one can be placed in exactly the same spot.
