Markem-Imaje has released the 3820, a new 1,100 meter thermal transfer ribbon designed for compatibility with both the SmartDate3 and SmartDate5 Series thermal transfer overprinters.

Compared to its forerunner (the 3810 with 600 meter long ribbon), the new 3820 ribbon is 83 per cent longer, offering an extra 500 meters.

Due to a more efficient manufacturing process, the 3820 has a ten per cent smaller Carbon dioxide footprint compared to the 3810. The 3820 is also a greener choice in that it puts out 20 per cent less waste by having less packaging and 50 per cent fewer plastic cores and offers 45 per cent more uptime as users avoid frequent ribbon changes.

For clients interested in updating to the 3820 ribbon, the transition is effortless, as it is designed for plug and play installation and thus no setting changes will be required for the new transfer ribbon.

The ribbon is ROHS compliant. This advanced ribbon only further adds to the efficiency of the SmartDate technology. Offering the highest quality printing at the fastest speeds, the SmartDate leads the industry in thermal transfer printing.
