While it may be true that packaging in the drinks industry has seen limited innovation in recent years, what cannot be denied is Hartness International Inc. and RKW’s intention to change this trend.

At the Drinktec 2009 trade show to be held this September 14-19 in Munich, Germany, the companies will officially unveil their collaboration on a revolutionary new film package called Grab Pack that offers enhanced customer convenience, superior display characteristics, and reduced packaging material.

The Grab Pack package is comprised of a pre-formed web of printed, cost effective shrinkable polyethylene film. During the application process, this web is opened and applied over grouped containers, capturing container foot and shoulder. A unique feature of the package is that each bottle is contained in its own pocket; thus, eliminating bottle to bottle contact.

The multi-pack is then supported and passed through a heat shrink tunnel in order to shrink the primary containers tightly together into a very solid multi-pack. The printed film web can be pre-perforated to facilitate the easy removal of individual bottles from the package.
