Domino upgrades its range of print & apply solutions

Domino Printing Solutions has introduced a series of hardware and software enhancements to its versatile M-Series range of print and apply labelers.
The first of these upgrades is the M200-CW100, a tamp applicator system designed to apply corner wrap labels onto adjacent sides of cartons to meet specific customer requirements.
Incorporating the same thermal transfer printing technology as used in the recently launched M220 pallet labeler (see image above), the M200-CW100 is frequently chosen to meet the exacting requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, featuring as it does an innovative double pad design which guarantees that the label is properly applied to the carton’s surface.
Other additions to the M-Series product range includes a package of enhancements for the M220 pallet labeler that includes climate kits.
Designed to broaden the range of environments in which the pallet labeler can be utilized, the climate kits feature heater and air conditioner options to maintain the air in the cabinet within suitable temperature and humidity limits, thus keeping the ribbon and label consumables in optimum condition—ensuring productivity is not affected by challenging production environments.

Also receiving an upgrade is the M220’s tamp head, which can now apply labels on three sides of the pallet with its ability to rotate through 180°. This further increases the flexibility of the standard product range while also reinforcing its reputation as the pallet labeler of choice suitable for all working environments.
The final enhancement is a part pallet solution based on the Domino QuickDesign software platform. An optional kit for the standard M220 pallet labeler, it includes an integrated touchscreen PC with pre-installed software and provides an easy to use configurable operator interface that allows entry of part pallet information, as well as offering full part pallet management.
Peter Lister, product marketing manager for Print & Apply labeling at Domino, comments on how this new addition will benefit palletizing applications: “Our systems are equipped to provide fully automated print and apply labeling on palletizing lines, but frequently the last pallet will not be a full one. The new part pallet system offers operators the option to enter relevant information on the touchscreen interface, which in turn configures the system to print an appropriate label. It’s a flexible solution that ultimately takes the coding automation process one step further.”
Lister also goes on to highlight how the enhancements to Domino’s M-Series range will make it compliant to Food Information Regulation 1169/2011, a new directive on food labeling that is being introduced in Europe by the end of 2014.
“The new guidelines stipulate that, in order to single out key allergens, some ingredients listed on food labels will need to be in different font formats to the rest of the text,” he explains. “For that reason, we are developing solutions that enable to print messages comprising mixed bold and non-bold text.”
