Buckhorn launches Intrepid bulk box

MILFORD, OH—Buckhorn Inc., a leading provider of reusable plastic packaging and material handling systems, is introducing its new Intrepid 48” x 40” specialty bulk box at the 2014 MODEX Show (March 17-20) at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
Intrepid is the perfect addition to Buckhorn’s extensive offering for the food and distribution markets, designed for a variety of applications including liquid, semi-liquid, powder, granular, meat and poultry products.
“Extensive market research in the food industry revealed that corrugated boxes are still widely used in applications that ship consistently from one location to another,” says Buckhorn new product development manager Dan Huhn.
“These bins are prone to a variety of problems including leakage, shifting off the pallet during transport, debris and dust, and limited one-time use. We took design features from our industry leading Buckhorn Caliber container and developed a design that would solve these problems and be usable by everyone in the food industry,” Huhn adds.
Constructed of FDA (U.S. Food & Drug Administration)-approved material, Intrepid is reusable and 100 per cent recyclable. It offers a smooth interior and exterior for easy cleaning. No more worrying about the splinters, nails and dust associated with corrugated boxes and wood pallets.
Intrepid can be used for temporary storage, work in process, incoming ingredients, shipments among plants and shipments to customers. Its heavy duty design can handle loads up to 1134 kilograms (2,500 lbs). The container’s non-sequential folding panels assemble and collapse in seconds. Intrepid is stackable with or without lids, and it offers a 3.3:1 return ratio. Up to 240 containers fit in a 53-foot transport trailer.
